Dear MacPhail Students, Families, and Community Members,

I am writing to share an important update regarding MacPhail programming at our Minneapolis location tomorrow, Saturday, January 17.

A demonstration march is planned to take place in downtown Minneapolis late Saturday morning, near our Minneapolis location, as well as several counter demonstrations. Out of an abundance of caution — and with the safety and well-being of our students, families, faculty, and staff as our top priority — we have made the decision to cancel all in-person programming at the MacPhail Minneapolis location this Saturday. This includes our Free Family Concert.

What this means

• All in-person lessons, classes, rehearsals, and events at our MacPhail Minneapolis location are cancelled for Saturday, January 17. Suzuki programming at DeLaSalle is also cancelled. 
• Students who are able are encouraged to shift to online lessons.
• Individual instructors and programs will reach out directly to students and families regarding make-up lessons, rescheduling, or other options.
• Programs and classes at our Apple Valley, Austin, and Chanhassen locations, and other offsite programs will continue as planned.

We know this may be disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding as we prioritize community safety.

MacPhail remains deeply committed to being a place of belonging, creativity, and connection. Music brings people together, especially in difficult moments, and we are grateful for the flexibility and care our community continues to show one another.

We hope to reschedule our Free Family Concert with the Jolly Pops for later this spring.
